Regulatory Roadmap for Trading & Risk Leading European Bank

Client Challenge

TORI was engaged to implement a new robust governance structure and enhance the existing subject matter expertise for one of Europe’s top 10 banks. Their regulatory roadmap held significant challenges:

  • Eur100mn/250 staff programme
  • FRTB
  • BCBS239
  • New ledger
  • Counterparty Credit and Collateral systems
  • IRRBB
  • Market Data and new foundation IT/Data architecture

There was programme slippage, compounded by cost-cutting, limited subject matter expertise, poor programme governance and the management of dependencies between other projects (e.g Treasury Programme, and MIFID)

What We Did

  • TORI reviewed the regulatory directives and interpreted them into business requirements, produced gap analysis, as well as project roadmaps and overall plans
  • Defined all the required corrective actions for remediation
  • Ensured all milestones, inter-dependencies and MI were correct, complete, realistic, and suitably prioritised
  • Implemented and chaired efficient cross-project oversight committee and control processes

Outcome & Results

  • Robust programme governance
  • Correct, complete, realistic and prioritised project dependencies
  • Increased discipline imposed across all related projects to ensure a more pragmatic/collaborative focus towards delivery
  • Benefits realisation and owners established
  • Lessons Learnt sessions delivered to ensure the business retains knowledge
  • The client re-engaged the TORI team for Phase 2 of the programme
