Supporting Central London Samaritans Through Christmas

As 2018 comes to an end, we have started to think about next year and we are delighted to announce our charity of 2019 will be Central London Samaritans.

The Central London branch is a self-funded branch of the Samaritans and means a lot to us as they were around the corner from one of our first offices. In fact they were our charity in 2015, where we managed to raise £50,000 for them.

As the founding branch of the organisation, Central London Samaritans has been providing emotional support for people who are struggling to cope for 65 years. Their 450 volunteers offer emotional support around the clock, every single day of the year. They regularly receive over 100,000 calls per year and support via phone, text, email and face to face. They are also very active in the community going out to schools and universities, stations and prisons and supporting the homeless.

We are announcing them a bit earlier than usual because they have a special challenge at this time of year. Christmas can be a very difficult time for some people and it is incredibly important that there is someone they can talk to and somewhere they can go – one conversation can make all the difference. So we are kicking off our fundraising early to help them stay open over Christmas – and it’s a great excuse to celebrate National Christmas Jumper Day!
