It is often said – and still holds true – that the only permanent thing is change. Organisations, particularly Financial Services, are in a constant state of change, something which is now essential to compete in today’s markets.
Companies, and divisions within those companies, must continuously review their people, processes and technology – all these areas can lead to the need to transform a company structure.
When asked to help in such situations, TORI normally makes use of a number of techniques and approaches to facilitate thinking and initiate appropriate actions.
One of the techniques TORI calls upon regularly is the 7-S approach. We have experimented with a number of other tools but continue to work with right-sizing, Organisation Analysis and Review (OAR), Inter-Accountability Analysis, BPR, and TQM amongst others. Areas of work frequently include:
- Review of current trends in organisational structure and design
- Identification of current and emerging forms of organisation
- Providing understanding of, and guidance on, the practice of organisational restructuring and the capabilities required for effective restructuring
- Raising awareness about, and influencing practice in, effective organisational restructuring among senior executives
- Analysing the contribution of effective people management for effective restructuring.
